¿Usa herramientas que le ayuden a identificar su posición estratégica y planificar la dirección de la misma?
¿Tiene éxito su estrategia de innovación en cuanto a la generación de nuevas ideas? ¿Se generan ideas, se registran, evalúan?
¿Se establecen objetivos al empezar un proyecto y se alcanzan?
¿Esta la compañía estructurada por equipos multidisciplinares? ¿Cómo se realiza la comunicación dentro de la empresa, esta sistematizada?
¿Esta establecido un procedimiento para la delegación de proyectos?
¿Están definidas las funciones de los recursos humanos, los sistemas y procesos?
¿Dispone la empresa de un departamento/área/responsable de I+D?
¿Dispone la entidad de sistemas para identificar el conocimiento, intercambiarlo y explotarlo (Propiedad intelectual-industrial)?
¿Usa la entidad herramientas de gestión de proyectos, que propicia la comunicación del equipo del proyecto y sus resultados?
¿Existe una política para identificar, adquirir y proteger la propiedad intelectual (patentes, marcas, conocimiento, copyright)? ¿Se realiza una evaluación de la I+D, se tiene en cuenta en los procesos de licencia?
Las capacidades para innovar se pueden aprender y deberían ponerse en práctica dentro de la empresa. El personal cuenta con capacidades variadas, experiencia y conocimiento que se pueden aprovechar en un entorno de trabajo para que surtan el mejor efecto
¿Se analizan con regularidad los objetivos empresariales, las capacidades innovadoras del personal, sistemas de gestión e información, los recursos, etc. para identificar las carencias presentes o futuras?

¿Hasta qué punto la resolución de problemas tiene un impacto en los recursos de la empresa? ¿Se analizan las quejas de los clientes con regularidad? ¿Hay proyectos de mejora continúa para minimizar los problemas?

Las empresas que permiten cierto grado controlado del gasto de recursos delegados pueden beneficiarse mucho de la rápida implementación de pequeños proyectos de mejora y la capacitación del personal para resolver cuestiones dentro de la empresa.
¿Existe un proceso de planificación detallado que incluye revisiones intermedias, hitos definidos y puntos críticos de seguir/parar? En cada etapa del desarrollo de un proyecto, los costes crecen de forma significativa. Un análisis temprano y la finalización de proyectos inviables es fundamental.
¿Cómo se generan las nuevas ideas? ¿Se fomentan las ideas de todos los miembros del personal? ¿Se usan fuentes externas? ¿Emplea técnicas de generación de ideas? ¿Las ideas que se generan se captan y conservan para uso futuro?
¿Existe un buen equilibrio entre proyectos relacionados con procesos, productos o servicios? ¿Qué criterios de selección usa? La utilización de diversos criterios de cribado son ideales, por ejemplo, factores tecnológicos, comerciales y de marketing.
¿Existe una interacción planificada y estructurada con otras áreas de la actividad empresarial a medida que el proyecto avanza? Marketing, ventas, producción…
¿Sabe cómo de exitosos son sus esfuerzos en innovación? ¿Qué métodos usa para medir los resultados? ¿Aumentan sus esfuerzos en innovación su ventaja competitiva?
¿Con qué rapidez puede desarrollar productos, procesos y servicios y llevarlos hasta sus clientes? ¿Se esfuerza en reducir el "tiempo de comercialización" de forma estructurada? ¿Desarrollan distintos departamentos (operaciones, marketing, etc.) sus planes en la actualidad?
¿Adopta unos principios claros para mejorar continuamente sus productos, procesos y servicios?
¿Cuenta la empresa con suficientes recursos para satisfacer sus necesidades en innovación?
¿Cuál es el nivel de implicación por parte del cliente, proveedor y centros investigadores en los proyectos de innovación?
¿Hace uso de herramientas empresariales en innovación? Vigilancia Estratégica, Analisis interno, Gestión del conocimiento, Creatividad, Marketing, Diseño, Prototipo, etc.
¿Dispone de un proceso replicable de generación, evaluación rigorosa y selección de ideas? ¿Está seguro de que las mejores ideas se seleccionan para su futuro desarrollo?
¿Cuenta con un sistema de gestión de proyectos efectivo? ¿Existe implicación de todas las partes relevantes, por ejemplo, proveedores y clientes, y colaboración en los departamentos relevantes? ¿Se hace una revisión habitual del estado de los proyectos se asegura que se han aprendido lecciones y que se han registrado para proyectos futuros?
¿Cuenta con un proceso de revisión una vez finalizado el proyecto? ¿Es efectivo? ¿Se capturan las lecciones aprendidas? ¿Cómo se difunde y comparte esta información? ¿Se desarrollan los procesos y proyectos futuros de forma diferente como resultado de proyectos anteriores?
